WEEK THREE: God’s Expectations

And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him,to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD's commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
Deuteronomy 10:12-13

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, As I embark on another chapter, I ask you for a humble heart and teachable spirit. Prepare my heart and mind for what you know I need to learn. Open my ears so that I will listen and my eyes so I can see. I am your child and I want to know what you expect. Give me discernment to understand and the desire to obey. Thank you for your Word and for the opportunity to walk this road of renewal with you. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

Opening Thoughts:

Welcome back friends! This road of renewa lhas led to the study of surrender and transformation…two important topics in the life of a believer. Two ideas that can get us down if we think about them wrongly, which is exactly why this week’s topic is critical!

We’re going to dive into God’s Word and see what He expects of us. That might seem like a scary, overwhelming thought, but I trust as we search the scriptures we will understand His expectations in a new way. Take your time as you study His Word and pray for a heart willing to receive all God wants to teach!

A Word of Encouragement:

Before you get into this week’s lesson, I want to share a verse God has brought to mind over the last week. Philippians1:6 says, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Friend, I don’t know the details of your life, but I trust in away it looks a bit like mine. There are joys mixed with pains, good days with bad. You may have times it’s easy to trust and others when you wrestle with doubt. No matter what your situation or struggle, I pray you remember God is working. We may not see or understand, but we can trust. He is a faithful Father and He is a promise keeper. Paul tells us, God finishes what He begins. He’s started a work in you, walk and work with Him as He continues it, so one day you can celebrate when He finishes!
