Praise the Lord forever! Amen and amen! Psalm 89:52 NLT
Is praising God for me or for Him?
Here's a thought: I praise God because of who He is, not just for what He's done, not for what He's going to do, but because of who He is.
I have found in my life, when I truly praise Him from the heart, my praise goes up and His love comes down. When I praise Him because of who He is, I feel the Holy Spirit’s presence around me and I am blessed.
I have also found that when I am struggling or in the midst of a storm, when I start to praise Him instead of focusing on the problem, I start to feel better.
I feel His comfort and His peace envelope me. Even when I am in the valley, when I lift my voice in praise, I feel His gentle arms wrap around me.
He is worthy to be praised even if I never get anything in return. He is still worthy to be praised, but I serve a loving God who gives back more than I could even comprehend.
I will continue to praise Him on the good days, the not so good days, even on the bad days… because of who He is. I Praise Him.
One day, in the midst of a storm, I was walking and praying, “Lord I don’t know what to pray. I can’t see a way out. I can’t handle all this that is on my plate right now.
There is so much hurt, so much anger, so much pain and suffering.” It was like He whispered, “Just praise Me. Forget all the other stuff, and just praise Me.”
So I did. I praised Him over and over and just as I was about back to where I started my walk and prayer, I felt His Spirit.
In the quietness, He answered the prayer that was the heaviest on my heart. Because I praised Him, opened my heart and took the time to just be in His presence, His love came down.
“Is praise for me or for God?” In my life it is for both of us, because that’s the kind of God I serve. He is worthy to be praised because of who He is, and He loves me enough to bless me in the process.
My God gives grace and mercy, both of which are undeserved.
Lord I will praise You as long as I have breath.
Take a moment every day to lift your voice in praise to our God who deserves to be praised and feel His Presence surround you.
Lord, I worship You because of who You are. Jehovah Jireh, my provider. Jehovah Nissi, Lord, You reign in victory. Jehovah Shalom, my Prince of Peace. I praise You Lord because of who You are Alpha and Omega. I praise You Lord just because of who You are. In Jesus’ Precious and Holy Name, Amen.
