Yesterday we cross referenced John 6:63 and John 16:13. Here they are in sequence:
“The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
What kind of “life” is Jesus referring to?
What does Jesus mean when He says “the flesh counts for nothing”?
What “words” are being referred to?
What do you think Jesus means when He says His “words… are spirit”?
What does Jesus mean when He says that the Spirit will “not speak on his own”?
*If He (The Spirit) can’t speak on His own, then what does Jesus mean when He says that “he will speak only what he hears…”? (it is important to reflect on the previous verse to get this right!)
What is the promise of this verse?
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
