Salt, Not Just for Your Food
You would think as you get older, you might find relationships easier.
Here's a universal truth, they take effort.
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33 NIV
Jesus promises we will have peace in Him, but reminds us quickly that peace with others is not promised. It takes effort.
We often hear sermons about being salt and light to a dark world. A little nugget in Mark reveals where it begins.
“Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other.” Mark 9:50 NIV
Salt has many uses.
It cleans, heals, kills, shines and preserves.
When Jesus tells us to be salt IN OURSELVES, the first step is allowing Him in to clean out impurities, heal what is hurting, kill the habitual sins, shine His Light through our actions and He will surely preserve us.
It's Monday. We will have trouble.
Lord, we need Your salt in our lives so that we will be ready for whatever comes our way. Clean us out, heal the hurts, kill the sin, for we want desperately to shine onto others without damaging any relationships. Preserve us we pray, in Jesus' name, amen.
