Today’s Special is: Abiding in Him, Not Just Another Task
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Alyssa Woollard
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches.
John 15:4-5 ESV
I should have this down by now. I should know this by heart. And yet somehow, I still manage to get it all wrong-way too often. Some days I read my Bible, pray, listen to Christian music and still my heart is far from Him. I check Him off my list but never truly find Him.
How can this be? When will I learn to abide? I know the answer and the One who speaks it, when it comes in soft whispers not audible to human ears.
“When I start listening. When I start waiting for Him to direct my paths. When I quiet my heart and trust the One who never leaves or forsakes.”
This isn’t a task to complete this is finding completeness in Him, no matter who calls or what breaks or how often the dog barks at absolutely nothing.
It is possible to abide.
I am learning-slow but sure. We are human beings not human doings. We are CREATED for this. Oh sisters, let’s abide in His presence.
Today. Every day. Always.
When I need to reconnect to Him, I will simply speak His name and wait for Him.
Sweet Holy Father, thank You for always inviting us to, “Come.” May we take You up on Your invitation every single moment of our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
