Today’s Special is: Seeking Victory Through the Proverbs 31 Woman
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Royale Rose
Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.
Proverbs 31:10 KJV
The world we live in has a twisted way of portraying superheroes, especially female ones. When we look at TV, we usually see petite, graceful and flawless. Even after catching the bad guys, they are still a picture of perfection.
While standing in the line at the grocery store with a toddler screaming for M&M’s (whose idea was it to put candy there anyway), I look up, wipe my brow, and all I see are magazines plastered with pictures of perfection; followed with unrealistic ways for us to achieve the perfect way of life.
So how do we find Victory as a woman - young or seasoned, married or single? How do we achieve all that is beautiful in God’s eyes? With Jesus - that’s how!!!
When I start to compare or envy all the other “I’ve got it all together women,” I turn to His Word. My favorite place to start is Proverbs 31. How do I become this virtuous woman?
In reading and studying the character of the Proverbs 31 woman, I can’t help but think of the word virtuous. So I look at the definition, and I find in a biblical program E-sword that the meaning of virtuous in this Scripture means “great forces, might, power, riches, strength, strong, valiant, and worthy.”
Very Superhero sounding, right? How do I make this character my own?
The first step for me was remembering that God has made us all different. Becoming this virtuous woman is not becoming someone you’re not. When we were formed by God, He installed in us the characteristics of this Proverbs 31 woman. It was His plan for us to become this virtuous woman of God. Now it is up to us to activate, through the name of Jesus, and use these characteristics to shine brighter than any jewel. Through God’s Word and prayer, you will gain the power of the character.
I’ll be the first to admit I frequently have that over-whelming doubt at being a wife and a mom, so I have to meditate over this Scripture often. First I take a look at the definition of the word “virtuous” and follow it up by meditating and praying over the Scripture. I pray for God to help me be the virtuous women He created me to be through the name of Jesus. All the while, I must keep in mind this doesn’t happen overnight. It is a lifelong process.
Father, forgive us for all the times we have tried to become the world’s vision of a woman. Help us to find the character in us that Your Word speaks of and to put it to use for the glory of Your Name. Help us all to see the beautiful woman that You see, Lord. Let us remember that we were made in Your Image and we are shining brighter than any diamonds. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
