Today’s Special is: Jehovah Nissi The Lord is My Banner
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Amy Carroll
I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.
1 Corinthians 1:10 NIV
I can still picture the days after 9/11. Total strangers leaned on each other for support and for drying tears. Church services spilled over into the streets, and our American landscape was covered with red, white and blue. Our flag had once more become the symbol of our American unity. The melting pot that symbolizes our country gave way to that one emblem of the love that unites us all.
Jehovah Nissi is the Lord our banner that flies over His whole family, uniting denominations and theologies. He is the King over a diverse Kingdom of His own making. We’re divided by national boundaries, skin color, languages, political beliefs, socio-economics and more, but Jesus, our Lord, unites us in a common love and reverence for Him.
Any time that the dividing lines seem to become predominant, we need to join in worship under Jehovah Nissi, the Lord our banner. He is the One who unites us and makes us family.
Are you living in a house divided? A church divided? A family divided?
I encourage you today to join us as we link arms and stand in unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ. May we dare to look past our differences, so that we may see each other through the eyes of the one who makes us whole.
Lord, You unite Your entire family under Your banner. We’re so thankful that under Your care we have become included in something greater than ourselves.
