Today’s Special is: Replacing Your Fears with Faith
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Savannah Parvu
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 NIV
Have you ever been afraid of failing? Has it kept you from doing something that you wanted or needed to do?
I love what Babe Ruth has to say regarding failure. He said, “Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.”
It took me a long time to realize that I had a fear of failure. I realized it when it started to become a problem. It was holding me back in life and causing me a great amount of stress and anxiety. I wouldn’t try things because I was afraid of failing at them and I always wanted to quit before I failed. I never wanted to make a decision, neither small nor big because I didn’t want to make the wrong decision.
As I prayed about this fear, God began to show me that my fear was a lack of faith. If I believe His word, then I should have no reason to be afraid. Joshua 1:9 tells us that we are to be strong and courageous and that God will be with us wherever we go.
Another Scripture that has helped me with this fear is Philippians 4:13 ESV. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” To me that Scripture means we don’t have to be afraid because our strength comes from the Lord.
Are you letting the fear of failure hold you back?
Take a moment to ask God to show you any area that you are not giving it your all because you are afraid of failing at it. Put your trust in Him. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
Dear Lord, thank You for giving us Your strength. It’s only in You that we can live life in faith and not in fear. Help us to give any ounce of failure or doubt to You so that You can turn it into faith and success. Help us remember that You are with us wherever we go. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
