Today’s Special is: Quieting Our Fears
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Carolyn Dale Newell
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
I found this verse in an e-mail right when I was wondering why I am so fearful about the future. I have a fear of one day being alone and blind. Many people have similar fears, wondering what will happen to them or their children. God tells us not to fear, and there are several reasons why.
First, God is always with us. No matter where we go or what we do, He is there. God has promised to never leave us nor forsake us Hebrews 13:5.
Second, He is the only true God and He is our heavenly Father. He cares for us better than any earthly father cares for his children. He is in control of everything and that alone should be a comfort.
The third reason that we should not fear is that we don’t rely on ourselves, but we rely on God’s strength. He has an unlimited supply of strength that He gives us just when we need it. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Phil. 4:13.
The next reason that we should not fear is that God is our helper. Jesus told the disciples that when He left, He would send a Helper to them – the Holy Spirit John 14:16.
Finally, God will uphold us in His righteousness. He will stand up for His children. He will do it in His perfect holy way as only God can do.
Christians have no reason to be fearful. God is our Father and He will never leave us. Our sovereign God is greater than anything we can fear.
The next time fear knocks at your door, start reciting these promises that God has given us. Remind yourself that you have no reason to fear and make a commitment to totally trust God.
Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your promises. Help me to not be fearful. I know that You are my helper and my strength. In Jesus’ name, amen.
