EMPTY + JESUS = FULL

The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and you will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58:11 (NIV)

For many years I was so empty inside that I didn’t know how I could continue to live. I was so desperate to fulfill this hole inside of me that I went down a path of destruction to try to get satisfaction.

I didn’t know what it was I was looking for, but I knew that there was something missing in my life and it hurt.

At the age of 13 I began cutting myself to take away some of the emotional pain that I was feeling. The cutting turned into an addiction that lasted 10 years.

It provided comfort for a time, but it wasn’t what was missing. I consumed myself with friends.

I tried drinking, church, smoking, being promiscuous, etc… but no matter what I filled my life with I was still left unsatisfied.

On February 12, 2009 I was in bed reading my Bible and I came across 2 Corinthians 5:17 which says,

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

It was then that I realized my need for a Savior. Nothing that I filled my life with was giving me complete satisfaction.

That night I poured my heart out to the Lord and surrendered my life to Him. I went from being empty to being filled with the Lord, which in turn has given me complete satisfaction.

The longing that I tried so hard to fill has been fulfilled with the Lord and I am so thankful for that.

We will never be completely satisfied until we realize our need for our Savior.

Dear Jesus, thank You for opening my eyes to make me realize my need for You in my life. I am thankful that You came and filled that empty space in my life. Help us to realize that You are the only One who can give us complete satisfaction. Amen.
