Today’s Special is: Finding Your Place in Christ
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Christie Davis
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
1 Peter 5:6 KJV
Have you ever been sitting in a crowded room or all alone, wondering if anyone would notice if you weren’t there? You know that feeling of doubt, wondering if you’re impacting anyone around you. I have, and I’m a teacher and a pastor’s wife.
Just recently, I came home from teaching 5th graders in tears and announced to my husband that maybe it wasn’t meant for me to teach anymore. I was convinced that the students had no desire to listen and that I was not reaching anyone.
“So, now what?” I thought. “I’m not doing any good here. It must be a sign that God is telling me that He’s ready for me to move on. Right?”
All I could do at the moment was pray. I didn’t hear a loud boisterous voice explaining how He was working through me, but I could hear a still small voice that simply said, “Trust me. I have you where I want you. Just trust me.”
It was in that moment that I was reminded of my true purpose in life, to serve and trust a Savior who came to earth, not in a shiny robe or a glorious light, to be hated and tortured for me! Since He did this for me, then I can trust Him to comfort and lead me in all aspects of my life, even when I cannot see it.
Jesus himself was frustrated as people walked by and ignored Truth itself. Yet, Jesus did not stop or quit. He faced unbelievable anguish at the hands of the ones He came to save, yet He continued to death.
He humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:8 KJV
He did that for you and me! It is for Him that we live. When we truly seek the Lord and desire to worship Him, it is then that we find true joy and contentment. All doubt leaves and we find ultimate acceptance in His presence and wherever we may be.
No matter what voice we are listening too… satan, the world, our own… God always has ways of showing us that He knows our hearts and hears our concerns.
One day after my big breakdown, God sent a parent of a former student to tell me that her daughter still loved me and desired to be a teacher like me. With tears and gratitude, I thanked the Father for sending the message that He heard me and was sending encouragement my way.
So, my challenge to you this week is to see. Write down three moments that you recognize as only God: an encouraging comment, an answered prayer, a financial blessing just when you need it, etc. Then, take time to praise an amazing God and His ways of saying I love you.
Dear Jesus, My heart cannot find the words to express my gratitude for the love that You show me every day. I have done nothing to deserve this love, yet You show me this love on a daily basis. Forgive me for my moments of doubt and disbelief. I place my life in Your control. I pray that I seek You daily and look for You in the mist of my hectic days. Amen.
