Today’s Special is: For Such a Time as This
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Stephanie Davis
For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?
Esther 4:14 NASB
Have you ever experienced a God-moment? A moment when God, the Creator of all things, chooses to reveal Himself to His creation in such a way that your life is changed forever? A moment that causes all doubts and fears to flee, because you know His hands have arranged it?
A little over six months ago, I was attending a women’s conference, when one of the instructors asked us “What would your God-Sized dream be?” Silence filled the room. The instructor could evidently sense the fear that now captivated her audience, so she began to explain. “If you could think of what God might dream up for your life, what would it be? Take a few minutes and think about it.”
I consider myself to be a pretty creative person, and anyone who knows me can attest to that. But this completely threw me for a loop. How could I even begin to imagine what God would want for me? After all He’s God! If that wasn’t bad enough, the instructor then says “Now turn to your neighbor and tell them what it is.” What?! Tell her what it is?! I don’t even know what it is! How can I tell her? As I looked at her, I heard these words come out of my mouth:
“Off the cuff, I’d say that my God-sized dream would be this: That God would use me and my family to be His face and a of display His love to a multitude of people.”
As these words rolled off my tongue, I was reminded of a conversation I had with Luann Prater earlier that day, which ended with her making this statement, “Oh Steph, I want you on my team.” At the time, I laughed at her! The thought of someone like her needing someone like me was hilarious! What on earth could I possibly have that she needs?
Insert God-moment here!
You have a willing spirit my child. You have My Spirit, and I have called you… for such a time as this. Now go and teach them to observe all that I commanded you. Matthew 28:20 NASB
“For such a time as this…”
As this thought swirled around in my head, I could not help but wonder how many times I had robbed God of the opportunity to do His work through me? How many times had I been selfish in my decisions? How many people had lost their opportunity to hear the wonderful message of God and His love for us because I chose to ignore the all too familiar knock at my heart’s door, and thus quenched the desires of His Spirit?
As God’s children, we are commanded to share the message of our faith. WE CANNOT REMAIN SILENT! We must give account of the things we have witnessed and experienced through the shed blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May we strive to reveal the goodness of our Heavenly Father in such a way that His presence in this world and His love for the people of this world can never be denied.
Precious Heavenly Father, as I reflect upon all the God-moments in my life, gratitude fills my soul. We’ve all been “called for such a time as this”! Lord use me to show those consumed by the darkness of sin, whose ears can no longer hear the sound of Your voice, that You are faithful, steadfast and strong. Your love is able to transform any life, committed to serving You, into a life full of peace and joy – undeniable, divine peace and joy! Father I commit this to You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
